SingFest is now recruiting local chorus members to perform in the “Brahms in Black Box” choral theatre production which will be held on Sat 22 and Sun 23 January 2022.

Choral Theatre is a new genre created by SingFest with innovative concepts of contemporary theatrical imagination, combining vocal and choral music, movement and theatrical elements. In 2021, SingFest develops this unique artform in a black box setting through our new project “Choral Black Box”, funded by the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The story of the coming production “Brahms in Black Box” focuses on a group of young people searching for the meaning of love, featuring pieces by Brahms and David Lang. We aim to recruit a group of 16 young singers to take part. A professional training programme (Mid-Oct 2021 to Jan 2022) will be provided. It includes vocal, physical and staging training sessions conducted by the show Director Kenix Tsang, Music Director Dominic Lam and Co-choreographers Peggy Lam and Kaki Lee.

Requirements:

• Choir experience is required.

• Availability during the performance week from Mon 17 to Sun 23 January 2022 is required.

• Priority will be given to those who have experiences in physical theatre performance or playing percussion.

• Punctuality and diligence is of utmost importance to the artists, production team and the performance.

• An honorarium will be provided upon completion of all training sessions, rehearsals and the performances.

• Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend an audition.
